First of all thanks for the lovely tunes, much appreciated!

I've noticed that even though the stream is broadcasting 2 channels, the signal is actually mono, is this intentional, or by mistake?

Hello ... I am Susan Cadogan and visiting your site after clicking on a photo of Lee Perry.  I would like to use the photo of Scratch( sitting in front of his mixing board) in an article that I have written about my recording with him back in 1974, in a myspace blog.  Please write me at acadomusic@yahoo.com.  I have been looking for a photo of him and was going to ask Glen Adams.  I came across this one that reminds me of him as I remember when we first met the night I recorded ‘Hurt so Good’.  Since then, I met him at Meltdown Festival in 2003.

I hope you can help me. Many thanks and continued success with your Scratch radio.  Do you play "Hurt so Good”"...I do hope so....

Kind Regards
Susan

I am beyond honoured to receive an email from you.
I have been listening to Scratch for many many years, and it has and still gives me many wonderful moments.
I listen on Nokia S60 Internet Radio application. It's a bit flakey, but works for me.
I am sorry it has taken so long to give a donation when it is the best thing about the Internet.
I love King Tubby's,and Bunny Lee's 'Implements of Sound'.
When they drop things in and out with filters, sweeoch, chweews, it just does something.
Please carry on playing, and play some deep King Tubby's for me.
My favourite track is Kimble by Lee 'Scratch' Perry.
Haili Selassie was in exile in England, and there are photo's of him on Brighton pier, where I live. I go and sit there sometimes.
The music has a meaning and significance, which I would greatly miss.
Lots of times I am listening, and there is a tune I haven't heard, or a version, or I recognise a sample used somewhere, and it is a real moment for me.
Thank you for broadcasting.
Yours Respectfully

Good day! I really have to say that your station "Scratch" is one of the best I have ever heard, and I've listened to dozens of stations.

I found your station using "Radio Tower."Sometimes I have problems connecting, but usually it comes in loud and clear.

Your station brings back so many happy memories.  I worked in Jamaica in the 1970's and part of the '80's as a teacher in government schools. When I first went there I didn't know much about the different types of Jamaican music, but after being there for a long time and visiting for many years as a tourist it really started to grow on me. I'm at the point where I can't live without it and I'm looking for it all the time. I used to attend musical events in Jamaica, and even met some personalities in the music industry, mostly by accident.

I have a large collection of cassettes that I had made by record stores and from the radio from back in those days. I don't play them much anymore because there are so many other media, but I think they include some "musical treasures," some of them quite rare.

I'm originally from New York but now I call Virginia my home. I've also lived and worked in Florida, New Jersey, California, France and the Middle East where I am now. I came to work in this part of the world after I left Jamaica for the first time in 1982.

Keep up the great work with your station, and say Hello to Rita. Have a fantastic day and receive the blessings of The Most High!

Thanks a lot to you for your song...
Firstly sorry for my english...

I was starting listen reggae music 10 years ago...And I am 25 right now...Since, I collected it every where I go...
I saw in concert all the rastaman papy's roots...Israel Vibration, The congos , bunny wailers, don carlos, Toots, marcia Griffiths, groundation, burning spear, steel pulse, alpha blondy, jimmy cleef........One month ago again: Lee Scratch Perry, and Max Roméo> Amazing...like usually...
I think it's really hard now to find people who listen the roots...and new artists make raggae, dancehall...Unfortunately, as the old generation is disappearing, or they stop to play in concerts (like Albert Griffiths who played his last world tour with his sons (I saw that!!In 2003 I think)) roots music is disappearing with them...

So... recently I loose ALL my music..Most of the music you diffuse on the scratch radio, I got it...
I m so bad about it...and I don't know which way to have again reggae music on my playlist whitout payed...
So your radio is like a puffed out air fresh...
Thanks A LOT...

If you know a way to collect some, tell me please (website, people,....)

Big up to you

It's 4:27 am in Zurich Switzerland and I'm grooving to your radio station, which I hadn't listened to for a few years. But then my CD player broke down and I rediscovered Scratch Radio.

That was a stroke of luck ! !

I'm happy to say that in a changing world that is constantly getting more commercialized and corporate-minded your Radio is just as good as it ever was - a 24/7 stream of the best music in the world (imo) without any adverts or interruptions.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR DOING SUCH A GOOD JOB ! !

You might be interested to know that Reggae radio stations are currently being discussed on the Roots Archives Forum (http://www.roots-archives.com), and Scratch Radio has been mentioned several times in glowing terms.
Perhaps you would like to read some of these posts or even use them on your site.

Hey man, I love your radio station and selection I listen all the time, and I've made a donation. The current "Christmas" selection is a killer!

Some feedback - I know it's a web station for streaming, but sometimes, just sometimes, I'd like to hear the voice of a presenter
- even if you're just inserting pre-recorded voice ids for the station. It would make the listen more human, you know what I mean?
Hope this feedback is useful.

Best,
Sean

Since discovering Scratch radio, end '06, it still gives me (and some who use the pc too:) great joy, and I was since then thinking about showing gratitude. A lot of tunes touch the soul and still some unknown artist come along the winamp too. Lets hope it helps somewhat to keep Scratch radio in the air with your works on the ground.

I wanted to personally thank you for providing such consistently excellent music. Your station has become a permanent installation in my life (whenever i have internet!).

I live in Austria/Europe and I'd like to know if there exists any playlist of your radio station.

I've heard a very exciting song last week, perhaps Friday 2009-08-07, or Saturday 2009-08-08, between 2 o'clock and 6 o'clock p.m. (Central European Summer Time).  I can't desrcibe this song and the only thing I know is: the next song
after the song I'm searching for was from Gregory Isaacs.

Rastafarian greetings to You (and entire Canada and Jamaica too)

Hi! I have been listening to your station for more than two years. Really nice..  I am from Greece but currently living in China near Beijing. The city is called Tianjin. Nowadays I turn the volume higher than usual because I live beside a noisy crowded street. So it is good to hear some cool relaxing music. So thanx for your station an for the excellent music (by the way this kind of music is called "lei gui" in Chinese and it means ghost music.. Don’t ask me why..)

Scratch radio is my favorite radio station on the internet. I work in a vegetarian restaurant in Amsterdam, called de Vliegende Schotel (flying saucer) and we have it almost always on, every night. As soon as something else comes out of the speakers, the staff gets all stressed and the costumers get upset about the food etc. Quite unusual, as about everything in Amsterdam of course..

Well. i really hope you have the time to answer me about some things and i wish you inspiration to keep playing these lovely tunes..

I am from germany, hamburg, schanze, 'reggaetown' from hamburg, with a smile....

It's unbelieveble 2 find such kind of music as a radiostream. I'm very happy a bout it, relaxing.
I only hear it over my nokia n95, there is a link 2 internetradio, so i found it. Years before Desmond Decker was still alive, i found his station on my pc, he played rocksteady, i was also happy 2 found it. Desmond was playing in Hamburg on the Townhallplace. I was astonished to hear all his songs he made. I did'nt know, that he was the one, great 4 me 2 go 4 a big umbrassing + thank you 4 him. I was a little child, when i listened 2 his music. So later i found his station and was happy, a few later he died. God made me happy with this meeting before. I am not knowing, if his radiostation is still playing. This all is a reason 2 be so happy, 2 listen 2 ya music. Thank you 4 that......is love and understanding inna world cum tru. Respect. Cool running.

We missed you when we could not get you. This is exactly the reggae we fell in love with.

My wife and I hosted a local public radio program for 5 years in the early ‘80s called Reggae Nightline. We took over for a friend who started the program. He taught us a lot about the music and its beginning though in the early ‘60s I lived in Puerto Rico and late at night would get radio skips from Jamaica. Favorite artists include Jimmy Riley, Lloyd Parks, Dennis Brown, Gregory-I, Joseph Hill, and so many more. When the music started evolving to dancehall rudeness I started losing interest. It was always a source righteousness and well (songs of freedom) that drew me to it.

I am new to your station but I'm loving every minute!  I currently live in South Florida but am originally from London, England.  Listening to your station reminds me of the days when my parents use to have house parties.  My mother says it was a common thing back in the 60's in London because many immigrants from the West Indies (particularly Jamaica) did not have any other forms of entertainment.  I was a young child at the time, but I still remember the good times.  I have been an avid collector of reggae music from the Rocksteady to Roots Reggae era for about 20 yrs now.  However, it's getting harder to find certain songs or people who appreciate this type of music.  I happened across this website from a link on radiotime.com.  I have saved your webpage as a favorite on my computer and will definitely check in often.  Thank you keeping the memory alive.

My site is still on construction, hoping that will be finished by the end of June(yeah right). The name of the site will be 70'splus and in the beginning it will only about music. Adding link of your station I hope that you could find more visitors from ex-Yugoslavia.

Yes Mr. Azevedo, I man really love the selection! Truly. Sounds so sweet! My name is Shane and I'm a former professional Reggae musician and internet radio freeeek! So lovely to come away from the deadened sounds of pop music ear conditioning and listen to the musical vibes that I come up on - and NO commercial interruptions and disrespect! I now reside here on the west coast of Florida in Sarasota and somehow get disconnected from Jamaican community as well as the Reggae music scene which seem to be in declining health for some time now. Still, I will be listening! Dis a de vibes! Live it up! Nice it up!

hola,
I absolutely love your radio station - I came across it on shoutcast and think it is by far one of the best online radio stations I've ever listened to (and I have a very broad musical taste, from punk, hip-hop, drum&bass and dance) - big respect! But is there any chance you can broadcast at a higher bitrate than 24kbps so that when I crank up the speakers to skank to some of the best Jamaican sounds I can truly appreciate the genius of the rocksteady rhythms?? :)

Keep on pumping out the amazing tunes! Yours gratefully, an Englishman in Madrid,

thank you! i have been listening for two days straight, i always wanted a ska/rocksteady/reggae station like this, and just found it. most others repeat the tracks after an hour of listening, not the case with you over these two days. also a lot of the time the others will throw something in there that completely throws the vibe off, again not the case.

great taste, great vibe, and great DJing. thanks a lot ill be your newest regular.

I am 23 years old and I have been listening to your show at work since I came across your website a few weeks ago. Roots reggae is my favorite music for many reasons. I wish that there were more real radio stations that played this music and more outlets in general. I had a reggae radio show at my college for a few years and it felt good just to be releasing this music into the soundwaves of the earth. This music is truly a gift to all and I hope that more people will learn about it and its message. Thank you so much for your station and for introducing me to some artists I wasn’t familiar with.

New listener here, Ramon is the name, born and raised in The Bronx, New York, background is Salvadorean. Large Jamaican community not too far from where I live over on White Plains Rd.

Discovered the station when I downloaded Realplayer 11 (Beta) went through about half the stations until I got to this one and believe me it's addictive.

One way to stop all the wars that are going on right now have them listen to Scratch, believe me they'll stop fighting. Thank you Jamaica and Scratch for the beautiful music!!!

Peace and love to all

So pleased to find your mix, you have the best sounds!

I grew up in Gloucester, U.K., born '57 so I heard all the latest Jamaican hits from my neighbours.  A house that held about 10 or 12 Jamaican tenants on a rotation.  I found Prince Buster vinyl at a swap meet in 1970 after my family emigrated to Canada.   I have been searching it out ever since.

My sister and I tell the story that we only found out we weren't Jamaican after we emigrated :-)

Studio One, King Tubby, Prince Jammy and all the royalty forever! Many thanks for the mix.

Much Respect!

I'm an old b**st**d (58!) but can remember the great 'blue-beat' times in London in the mid 60s.  I'm just so overwhelmed by your encyclopedia of music.  I found you via the winamp shoutcast pages , so right now i'm alternating between yourselves and the classical persian RadioDarvish site.

For a long time i've been trying to trace a great blue-beat from that era track called , I think , 'Oh what a life' by Sugar and Dandy (pretty much 'There was an old woman who lived in a shoe).  I got you on a lot of the time so if you can find it and play it, may God smile on you.  With the Greatest regards and Highest respect.

I 've been listening to your radio station and feeling irie for more than 4 years, from Athens (Greece), Aberdeen (Scotland, UK) and now London.  Thanks you for the tunes you play, your i-list is awesome.  Reggae music was my favourite, but after coming across Scratch, I have been completely hooked up.  I listen to it all the time, at home and at work.  Scratch is a powerful ambassador for reggae music.   Keep teaching.

peace and love,

I have been listening to your station for over a year and I just discovered that you have a website!

I guess the music has always been enough for me.  I absolutely love everything you play and you are actually responsible for transforming me from being just another one of gazillions of Bob Marley fans into someone who really has a passion for reggae, dub and ska.  You took me to the next level and I am so glad.  I didn't know what I was missing until I discovered your station.

Now, thanks to you, I know more.  Various artists and bands and musical styles have painted a wonderful tapestry of Jamaican music and culture over the decades.  Thank you for having helped me discover a good poriton of it.

In my humble opinion, your station plays the greatest music on the Internet.  Bar none.

Long live Jamaican music.

Thanks again my friend. Take care and keep up the good work.

This is the best radio station I have ever found on the internet. I was searching for something that was all roots, ska, dub, etc. . . but no hip-hop, and this is the **PERFECT** station.

Thank you for doing something that everyone can enjoy so much.

Plus, this is the best collection I've ever seen in my life!

Harmony & blessings. Love & light. Boom!
(to life)

-------------

Three words: Wow.

-------------

Hello. My name is Bradley. I do a Monday night poetry show on TalkRadioX.com (10:00-11:00p.m EST) I am trying to contact you. Could I have your permission to stream your station, for example, in between poems, etc... I can promise to promote your website every fifteen minutes during the show, and as well at the end of the show. It is not a reggae show, but it is nice to have music playing when I am speaking, and or intro, or in between poems and so as not to have dead air, etc.

Let me know.

You can google me. " Network_b "

I can also put your banner and link on all my websites where I advertise for the show. I don't really make any money doing the show, but I can barter.

Like I said, harmony & blessings, love & light
